Backend Software Engineer (All Levels)

As a Backend Software Engineer (all levels) at Neighbor you will be building technology to power new sharing economy experiences. Join us in leveraging AWS, Google Vision AI, and more to create scalable, performant, automated systems to power the Neighbor.com marketplace.

We are looking for engineers who have experience building large scale applications. You will have significant influence on our strategy by helping to define product features, drive the system architecture, and spearhead best practices to create a quality product. Responsibilities:

  • Architect, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and improve Neighbor.com’s APIs
  • Manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables
  • Develop DevOps processes and infrastructure
  • Mentor new team members

Requirements:

  • BS Degree in Computer Science, related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
  • Experience building scalable systems

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Has built large products or applications - cloud applications a bonus
  • Proficiency in AWS - RDS, VPC, SNS, SQS, Lambda, Redshift, S3, ...
  • Experience with Java, Python, Ruby, Scala, or C++
  • Understanding of SQL / relational databases
  • Experience with server automation - Linux, Bash, Chef/Puppet, etc.

Community Manager - Dallas

The Community Manager is a self-motivated individual that will help hosts publish and optimize their listings; work with interested renters to pair them with suitable hosts; attend events as a Neighbor representative; manage reservations and other administrative tasks; and be a brand advocate for Neighbor. This position requires an outgoing personality, ability to multitask, and individual must be able to work independently and remotely.

  • Assist users in publishing and optimizing their listings
  • Photograph various storage locations
  • Help users find and reserve storage space
  • Source new hosts and spaces from online sources

Requirements:

  • Must live in or be willing to move to Dallas
  • Outgoing personality 
  • Proficiency in multitasking

You will have significant influence on our strategy by helping to define product features, design innovative user experiences, prioritize projects, drive the system architecture, and spearhead best practices to create a quality product for our users. A commitment to engineering excellence and building a world-class engineering startup is a must.

  • Perform user experiments and data analysis to continually improve the user experience
  • Mentor new team members

Requirements:

  • BS Degree in Computer Science, related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
  • Experience building production mobile applications

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Has built large production mobile applications - native Android a plus
  • Proficiency in Kotlin or Java
  • Understanding of APIs, and able and willing to contribute to enable new mobile experiences

As a Software Engineering Intern at Neighbor you will be building technology to power new sharing economy experiences. Join us as a full eng team member to build and release real features to the Neighbor marketplace.

Openings are available for the iOS, Android, web, or backend teams.

We are looking for engineers who have done well in their foundation computer science coursework. Work closely with a dedicated mentor who will help you learn Neighbor’s systems and processes. You will also have significant influence on our strategy by helping to define product features, design innovative user experiences, prioritize projects, drive the system architecture, and spearhead best practices to create a quality product for our users.

Our mission is to revolutionize the $38B self-storage industry with technology. Come join the most exciting startup in Utah as we expand nationwide!

Responsibilities:

  • Learn Neighbor’s technologies including TypeScript, React, Swift, Kotlin, Ruby, AWS, and more.
  • Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain Neighbor.com’s marketplace.
  • Perform user experiments and data analysis to continually improve the user experience.

Requirements:

  • Enrolled in a Computer Science program or related technical field
  • Proficiency in a major language (JavaScript, Swift, Java, Kotlin, C++, Python, Ruby, …)
